International pecuniary Fund
One of the key International Financial Institutions in the global economy is the International Monetary Fund also known as the IMF. The IMF was created in 1944 by 45 governments in the United Nations Monetary and Financial collection of the Bretton Woods agreement. The IMF was part of a solution to prevent economic policies that could lead to a financial crisis such as the one experience during the Great Depression that took place in the 1930s.



The IMFs primary purpose is to ensure the stability of the international fiscal system- the system of exchange rates and international payments that enables countries and their citizens to buy goods and service from each other (IMF, 2009). To maintain stability and prevent crises in the international monetary system, the IMF reviews national, regional, and global economic and financial developments (IMF, 2009).
