Finding The Rapture
Part of being an adult is recognizing that piece are mortal. No matter what actions they take, people will finally die. Dylan Thomas and Jack Kerouac both focused their writing on the unavoidable existence of epoch. Their negative view portrays life as a race against while, an attempted escape from death, and the eventual, inevitable acquittance to both. Thomass Fern Hill discusses how honor is lost when condemnation is discovered (and, simultaneously, death is discovered as well). Although these works emphasise attempts to extend life infinitely, they prove that humans cannot remain blissfully innocent; they must face the reality of an end.
Fern Hill describes time as a thief of ingenuousness. As a youngish boy in a small wooded valley, time is of no importance. The speaker says, Time let me hail and rising slope / Golden in the heydays of his eyes, / And . . . I was prince of apple towns / And once infra a time I lordly had the trees (1-4).
